Renovation and conversion of a 200-year-old farmhouse into a villa-style hotel in Nagano, Japan. We restored a traditional thatched farmhouse using only locally harvested natural materials such as wood, stucco, brick, and earthen walls while applying modern techniques to improve livability and functionality. The project and construction were supported by the local community; in particular, the roof was restored with the help of the only remaining thatch craftsman in the region. We believe we have given the house another 200 years of life.
